Hi, I’m Pastor Kim. I have the privilege of serving Crossroads Church as its Senior Pastor. I’ve been part of this great body of believers since 1982. I’m a Dutch/Norwegian mix with a strange last name, Skattum and an even stranger first name, Kim. Don’t ask me why, but when I was born in 1956, Kim was a semi-popular boys name and I got it.
I came to Crossroads in 1982 as a twenty-five year old ready and willing to serve this church as the worship leader and youth director. When our former pastor decided to retire after twenty-nine years of leading Crossroads back in 1992, the church elected me to be its third pastor. I was humbled and delighted at the same time and gladly accepted the challenge. I love this church and I love my job.

I have attended Crossroads since 1997 and joined the staff in December of 2005. This is my second career (or perhaps my fourth depending on how you count careers). I retired from Qwest in January of 2006. The bulk of my time there was spent in the Information Technology arena. I attended Denver Seminary on a part-time basis for eleven years and graduated in December 2006 with a Master’s of Divinity (MDIV) degree. I have been married over three decades (yes, to the same woman – Sue). Sue teaches fifth grade at Westview Elementary School. We have two adult children, Amanda and Wesley, and one grandchild.
At Crossroads I am responsible for Anchor groups, Christian education, and discipleship.

Matt moved to Colorado and joined Crossroads Church staff in August of 2007, after graduating from Southern Seminary with a MDiv. His passion is helping people unpack and mold their lives around the principles of Scripture. He does this in a variety of settings whether it be in the Weekend Services, BaseCamp, theVine or other ministries around Crossroads.
Matt likes to hang with the family, play hockey, sink a birdie putt (not often), and camp in the Colorado mountains, oh yeah, and he is a professed iDork. He dislikes spending money, dirty areas, and jet lag. He is married to his very beautiful wife Sara, and has a son Theo aka T-Rex.

I joined Crossroads following 13 years in cross-cultural ministry in Mali, West Africa. I serve Crossroads Church as Missions Pastor and in Men’s Ministry. That means I get to be part of a great staff and work with a wonderful group of people, with icing on the cake: getting to know and work with Crossroads’ partners in ministry, here locally and around the world.
My wife, Stephanie, and me first became acquainted with Crossroads while attending Denver Seminary where I earned a M.DIV. (While at Seminary I even attended several classes with Pastor Kim.) Stephanie loves working with recent immigrants to the Denver area. She teaches in Crossroads’ ESL program and works with Crossroads’ sponsored refugee families. Camping, gardening, and walking our dog, Daisy, along the Platte River – especially when there is snow on the ground – are some of our favorite activities. Autumn is our favorite season for being in the Rockies. When time permits – and sometimes when it doesn’t – it’s said that I can be talked into taking a fishing rod to the nearest lake or stream. My real passion is serving people to Jesus: “providing the Gospel to those who have not heard; providing opportunities for those who do not have.”
If you think that I can serve you in a particular matter, or if you just want to talk missions or men in ministry over a cup of strong coffee, contact me.
