Not just food.

Our mission is to model the love of Jesus Christ by providing food to the hungry and needy people of the North Denver area.

This mission is to be carried out by a servant helper workforce and a small staff using donated food and money. Our involvement is usually short term, “stop-gap” help. Long term relief is usually outside the scope of our mission. In all cases, modeling the loving and compassionate character of Jesus is to be as much a part of our mission as the tangible food we give.

What We Do

North Denver Cares food pantry is a non-profit organization that provides temporary, emergency help to the unemployed, the underemployed, the elderly on fixed incomes and single parents. Help is available on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis.

No one within our designated service area with a legitimate need is refused.

Since its inception in 2009, the food pantry has grown significantly. We currently feed more than 400 families every week who are less fortunate. Although we are an emergency or crisis center, often we are able to help single parents change the course of their lives and move out of the unfortunate situations in which they find themselves. Many elderly people on fixed incomes are unable to purchase adequate food due to high medical expenses, so we are able to supplement their food supply. This also includes USDA food commodities.

In addition, we offer information on other agencies, both governmental and non-profit, which may assist in other areas.

Feeding more than 400 families every week requires not only the dedication of loyal servant helpers, but also the financial input from many sources. A facility in which to store the food and serve the people whom we help is also a critical need. We depend completely on donations of food and money for our operation. There are no salaried positions and operation costs are kept to a minimum. The food pantry is open 3 days a week and is staffed by more than 200 servant helpers and a 5-member Board of Directors. Our servant helpers come from all walks of life to follow the teaching of Jesus to minister to the needs of others. We invite you to join us in this ministry through your prayers, volunteer service, and donations.
