MY STORY | Vulnerability
Describe a time when you experienced the natural consequences of an unhealthy behavior. What did you learn from that experience? (7-10 min)

DIGGING DEEPER | Practical Biblical Application
Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen. (Romans 1:24-25)

At what point do you let a child just experience the consequences of their actions without giving them warning or advice? What usually has to happen before you get to this point?

What do bad choices tell us about a child’s (or adult’s) ultimate object of worship?

GROWING TOGETHER | Spiritual Friendship
And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. (Romans 1:28)

Why is character a better gauge than rule-keeping to determine how a child will behave in any given situation—especially when there’s temptation?

What are some practical ways you can help shape a child’s character?

MOVING OUTWARD | Faith in Action
Talk with a child about what motivates him or her. Sometimes a kid’s decisions might seem impulsive, but all choices reflect some sort of underlying value. Get him or her to articulate what those values are.

What is the one important thing you will take away from this weekend’s message or our community group discussion? Is there any challenge, difficulty or praise that you would like to share with the group for prayer?
