MY STORY | Vulnerability
Which part of the Bible do you find it most difficult to understand or explain?

DIGGING DEEPER | Practical Biblical Application
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness. (1 Timothy 2:16)

Give some specific examples of how you might use the Bible to: instruct, challenge, pivot, or make disciples.

For what reasons do some people just “pick and choose” what they’re going to take seriously in the Bible?

Why is that not an option for the follower of Christ?

Then the Lord put out his hand and touched my mouth. And the Lord said to me, “Behold, I have put my words in your mouth. (Jeremiah 1:9)

Throughout the ages and still today there are people that speculate on the validity of the Bible.

What are some grounds you have heard of for these criticisms? What kind of evidence or critique would you consider valid in light of the eye witness accounts we have?

What was Jesus’ opinion of the Bible? Did He consider it to be the authoritative Word of God?

Why should the follower of Christ adopt Jesus’ view of the Scriptures?

GROWING TOGETHER | Spiritual Friendship
Knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone’s own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. (2 Peter 20-21)

How can the Holy Spirit “carry along” a biblical writer without losing that person’s unique personality, experiences, and writing style?

How would you advise someone who questions the reliability of the Bible?

MOVING OUTWARD | Faith in Action
Make it a goal to read a book of the Bible this week. Get together with someone and talk about what you discovered.
