MY STORY | Starting Place
In what ways have you seen God amplify what you bring to the table, no matter how small it may seem in your eyes?
DIGGING DEEPER | Practical Biblical Application
Mary said,
My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has looked on the humble estate of his servant. For behold, from now on all generations will call me blessed; for he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name.
And his mercy is for those who fear him from generation to generation. (Luke 1:46-50)
What are some of the great things God has done for you? What would your life be like today if He had not done those astounding things?
Why does your generation need God’s mercy? How are the generations who follow us going to
need God’s mercy?
GROWING TOGETHER | Spiritual Friendship
He has shown strength with his arm; he has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts; he has brought down the mighty from their thrones and exalted those of humble estate; he has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty. He has helped his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy, as he spoke to our fathers,to Abraham and to his offspring forever. (Luke 1:51-55)
Give some real-life examples of the biblical phrase, “Oh, how the mighty have fallen” (2 Samuel 1:27)
Why does God love humility so much? From which spiritual dangers does humility protect us?
MOVING OUTWARD | Faith in Action
Start noticing and calling attention to the positive contributions of others in your circle of influence—especially with those who seem to struggle with having a sense of purpose, or may feel invisible.
You could say something like, “I’ve long admired the ways God has used your [fill-in-the-blank-gift-or-ability] to make a difference in people’s lives.”
Looking back at your notes from this week’s message, was there anything you heard for the first time, stuck with you, challenged or confused you?
What is the one important thing you will take away from this weekend’s message or our community group discussion? Is there any challenge, difficulty or praise that you would like to share with the group for prayer?
Message Notes
You can add your own personal sermon notes along the way. When you're finished, you'll be able to email or download your notes.
