MY STORY
Who were the primary adults who met your needs when you were a child? Which ones, if any, of those significant needs in your life were occasionally, or frequently, left unmet?
WHAT DOES GOD WANT US TO HEAR?
"They laughed at Jesus. But he put them all outside and took the child's father and mother and those who were with him and went in where the child was. Taking her by the hand he said to her, "Talitha cumi," which means, "Little girl, I say to you, arise." And immediately the girl got up and began walking (for she was twelve years of age), and they were immediately overcome with amazement. And he strictly charged them that no one should know this, and told them to give her something to eat." Mark 5:41-42
What were the two commands that Jesus gave to these parents after raising their daughter from the dead?
Why do you think Jesus needed to remind these amazed parents to take care of their kid's need for food?
Why would this true story make a solid bedrock foundation for a Christian theology called: The Healing of Children?
What does God want us to hear? Based on the passage and the questions above, what "takeaways" do you think God has revealed to you?
WHAT DOES GOD WANT US TO DO?
What are the basic needs of children to keep them physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually healthy?
How have you helped to address these needs in a child's life?
How is Compassion International meeting these needs of kids around the world?
What does God want us to do? Flowing out of our reading and interpretation, what action does this passage or the Spirit's leading, call us to?
WHAT DOES GOD WANT ME TO DO?
Pick a kid in your circle of influence, and find out what might be missing in that child's life.
At the very minimum, begin praying for that boy or girl. Beyond that, if you are able and it's appropriate, do something to fill in a need-gap in that child's life.
How do you feel about the mission of Compassion International? How are their values in alignment with the global vision of Crossroads Church?
