Print

1. Open with prayer. (2-5 min)
2. Read 2 Corinthians 1:3-11.
3. Discuss these questions with your group. (20-45 min)

MY STORY | Vulnerability
What difficult experience in your life deepened your empathy for others going through the same type of thing? (7-10 min)

DIGGING DEEPER | Practical Biblical Application
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. (2 Corinthians 1:3-4)

How do you usually receive comfort from God?

What motivates a believer to comfort others who are in distress?

GROWING TOGETHER | Spiritual Friendship
For as we share abundantly in Christ’s sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too. (2 Corinthians 1:5)

What did healing look like for you after you made it through a challenging trial?

How did you know that you were making progress toward healing?

LIVING IN 4D | Missional Living
Think about someone in your circle of influence who is going through a high degree of distress, and offer to come alongside him or her—even if all that means is actively listening to that person talk about what’s going on.

What is the one important thing you will take away from this weekend’s message or our community group discussion? Is there any challenge, difficulty or praise that you would like to share with the group for prayer?
