Pastor Matt reminded us that anyone can pray and by doing so, bring the power and influence of heaven into our everyday existence on earth.

In what area of life are you most likely to have alignment problems? Your car? Your back? Your close relationships?
WHAT DOES GOD WANT US TO HEAR?
[Jesus said]
Pray then like this:
“Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.”
(Matthew 6:9-13)
Why is it important to acknowledge God’s holiness, first thing, when we pray?
Why is it essential that we offer up prayers that are in alignment with the revealed will of God – namely, what we know is important to God as revealed in the Scriptures?
How can asking God for our daily needs prevent us from taking those day-to-day blessings for granted?
What’s likely to happen with our relationship with God if we hold on to an unforgiving attitude toward those who have hurt us?
What are some of the ways God clearly delivers people from evil?
What does God want us to hear? Based on the passages above, what are the factual “takeaways” that are meaningful to you?

What types of prayers and requests of God would clearly be out of alignment with his will?
List out the daily needs for which God consistently provides.
What are some common significant losses that people find difficult to forgive?
When it comes to temptation, why is it important to make the important relevant decisions before facing a certain seduction, instead of making those choices in the heat of the moment?
What does God want us to do? Flowing from our reading and interpretation, what action does this passage or the Spirit’s nudging us toward?
WHAT DOES GOD WANT ME TO DO?
Pastor Matt said, “How much different would your prayer life be if you knew with confidence that when you stepped into that quiet, alone space that God would be there to meet you – that God was there watching for you, waiting for you?”
One day a humble leper came to Jesus and said, “Lord, if you are willing, I know you can heal me.” (Matthew 8:21). Jesus told the sick man that he was willing, and then healed him.

Write out a model prayer that would reflect each of the elements in the Lord’s prayer as Pastor Matt described them this weekend.
