Pastor Chris talked about what it means to be reconciled with God—and what needs to happen in your heart for that to happen.
MY STORY
If you've ever had a spiritual epiphany, where it seemed like a thousand stadium lights went off in your head, describe what happened.
WHAT DOES GOD WANT US TO HEAR?
"Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" And they said, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved ..." .(Acts 16:6-35)
What was the jailer's first question after realizing he had experienced grace from his prisoners?
What was Paul and Silas' answer to the jailer's question?
What does it mean to believe in the Lord Jesus?
What is the significance of Christ's title Lord here (especially when it comes to believing in Jesus in order to be reconciled with God)?
How is genuine repentance a first step in acknowledging the Lordship of Jesus?
What does God want us to hear? Based on the passage and the questions above, what "takeaways" do you think God has revealed to you?
WHAT DOES GOD WANT US TO DO?
"Whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God." (John 3:16-22)
What is the role of spiritual darkness when it comes to people being blind to their need to be reconciled with God?
What does forms does oppressive spiritual darkness take in today's culture?
What can a spiritual epiphany look like when the light of Christ shines inside someone's agonizing personal darkness?
What does God want us to do? Flowing out of our reading and interpretation, what action does this passage or the Spirit's leading, call us to?
WHAT DOES GOD WANT ME TO DO?
If you haven't experienced saving faith yet, acknowledge that you have sinned against God and others, ask God to be merciful to you, and in that mercy ask him to save you through the atoning work of Jesus on the cross.
Engage a non-Christian this week, and ask that person what he or she believes about God. Listen carefully. Ask probing questions. Look for ways to build bridges to the Gospel in what he or she tells you.
If they ask you what you believe, they are essentially asking you to share the Gospel with them. And so, be ready with an articulate response, an answer that will be relevant to them (because you have heard something about his or her spiritual journey).
What does God want ME to do? What is the personal application and action step God is calling you, personally, toward?
