GROUP DISCUSSION
1. Open with prayer. (2-5 min)
2. Share your story:
What’s one thing (or relationship) you spend far too much energy on? (7-10 min).
3. Read Luke 9:57-62
4. Discuss these questions with your group. (20-45 min)

Looking back at your notes from this week’s message, was there anything you heard for the first time, stuck with you, challenged or confused you?

As they were going along the road, someone said to him, “I will follow you wherever you go.” And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.” (Luke 9:57-58)

If God were clearly calling you to make a change quickly, how hard would it be to just get up and go? What obstacles would you face?

To another he said, “Follow me.” But he said, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.” And Jesus said to him, “Leave the dead to bury their own dead. But as for you, go and proclaim the kingdom of God.” (Luke 9:59-60)

What could you be waiting to “run out its course” so that you can be free to fully follow Jesus? If you simply stopped putting any energy into that thing, what would happen?

Yet another said, “I will follow you, Lord, but let me first say farewell to those at my home.” Jesus said to him, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.” (Luke 9:61-62)

What (or whom) do you need to release in order to fully follow Jesus?

LIVING IN 4D
Is there a ministry or opportunity God wants you to lean into?

Are you holding back for legitimate reasons or are they just excuses? How do you know the difference?

What is the one important thing you will take away from this weekend’s message or our community group discussion? Is there any challenge, difficulty or praise that you would like to share with the group for prayer?
