GROUP DISCUSSION
1. Open with prayer. (2-5 min)
2. Share your story: If you were a fruit, what would you be? Does it grow on a tree, bush, or vine? What do you have in common with this produce? (7-10 min).
3. Read Luke 13:6-9
4. Discuss these questions with your group. (20-45 min)
Looking back at your notes from this week’s message, was there anything you heard for the first time, stuck with you, challenged or confused you?
[Jesus] told this parable: “A man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it and found none. And he said to the vinedresser, ‘Look, for three years now I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and I find none. Cut it down. Why should it use up the ground?’ (Luke 13:6-7)
How do you measure success in life? How are you doing according to your standard?
How would someone who knows you well say you’re doing according to your standard?
And he answered him, ‘Sir, let it alone this year also, until I dig around it and put on manure. Then if it should bear fruit next year, well and good; but if not, you can cut it down.’ (Luke 13:8-9)
What second chance would you need if your life were not bearing fruit (or as much as it could be)?
What would be God’s role in that? What is your role?
LIVING IN 4D
Is there an area of your life that gets more attention and energy than it should? What would you need to cultivate or trim to get back in balance?
What is the one important thing you will take away from this weekend’s message or our community group discussion? Is there any challenge, difficulty or praise that you would like to share with the group for prayer?
Message Notes
You can add your own personal sermon notes along the way. When you're finished, you'll be able to email or download your notes.
