GROUP DISCUSSION
1. Open with prayer. (2-5 min)
2. Share your story:
Describe the most meaningful invitation to an event that you ever received. Why was it special to you? (7-10 min)
3. Read Luke 14:7-33
4. Discuss these questions with your group. (20-45 min)

Looking back at your notes from this week’s message, was there anything you heard for the first time, stuck with you, challenged or confused you?

For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted. (Luke 14:11)

What’s the difference between biblical humility and putting yourself down all the time?

What is appealing to God (and usually to others) about genuine humility?

And at the time for the banquet he sent his servant to say to those who had been invited, ‘Come, for everything is now ready.’ But they all alike began to make excuses. (Luke 14:17)

What are some common excuses today for not fully devoting one’s heart, mind, and soul to Christ?

Have you ever been guilty of any of those? If so, explain.

Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple. (Luke 14:27)

What has it cost you to follow Jesus? What have you gained by committing your heart, mind, and soul to Christ?

LIVING 4D
What would it cost you to successfully connect with your neighbors?

What is the one important thing you will take away from this weekend’s message or our community group discussion? Is there any challenge, difficulty or praise that you would like to share with the group for prayer?
