GROUP DISCUSSION

2. Share your story:
Talk about at time when you lost an item that was extraordinarily valuable to you—and then you found it.
(7-10 min)
3. Read Luke 15:1-32
4. Discuss these questions with your group. (20-45 min)

Looking back at your notes from this week’s message, was there anything you heard for the first time, stuck with you, challenged or confused you?

Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance. (Luke 15:7)

Just so, I tell you, there is joy before the angels of God over one sinner who repents. (Luke 15:10)

Why would angels be happy when people own up to the damage that their unhealthy words and actions have caused?

But when [the prodigal son] came to himself, he said, “How many of my father’s hired servants have more than enough bread, but I perish here with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and I will say to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you.’” (Luke 15:17-18)

Describe a time when a “light” turned on in your mind and you realized you were wrong to say or do something.

Why is it important to ask God for mercy after owning up to your misdeeds? In what ways might you be tempted to atone for your own wrongdoing?

LIVING IN 4D
Repair & Restore

Are any of your relationships in need of mending? If so, after praying about it, what would be a healthy way to address the issue?

What is the one important thing you will take away from this weekend’s message or our community group discussion? Is there any challenge, difficulty or praise that you would like to share with the group for prayer?
