MY STORY | Vulnerability
Tell us about a time when you finally received something you wanted for a long time, and it did not offer the satisfying “pay-off” you were expecting. (7-10 min)
DIGGING DEEPER | Practical Biblical Application
React to the following definition: Contentment is having a deep sense of well-being, no matter how little or how much you have.
Can you be content and still desire to grow, or must you choose one or the other? Explain.
You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to create wealth. (Deuteronomy 8:18)
How has God given you the ability to generate enough revenue to take of your needs?
What is reasonable for God to expect from you in exchange for giving you this capability?
“Godliness with contentment is great gain” (1 Timothy 6:6).
What would ungodly contentment look like?
What’s the downside of “having enough” without a dynamic and growing relationship with Jesus?
Extra credit: Look up and read the following passages that talk about money: Matthew 6:25-34; Luke 6:38; Luke 12:15; Proverbs 3:9-10; Psalm 24:1-6.
What would need to change, if anything, for your view on money to come into closer alignment with the principles in these verses?
GROWING TOGETHER | Spiritual Friendship
To the group, describe where “holy discontent” is pushing you to grow, and where “worldly discontent” is pushing you toward envy or resentment.
LIVING IN 4D | Missional Living
Give an anonymous gift to someone this week who is struggling to be back onto his or her feet.
What is the one important thing you will take away from this weekend’s message or our community group discussion? Is there any challenge, difficulty or praise that you would like to share with the group for prayer?
Message Notes
You can add your own personal sermon notes along the way. When you're finished, you'll be able to email or download your notes.
