GROUP DISCUSSION
1. Open with prayer. (2-5 min)
2. Share your story:
If you were on Fear Factor (a reality tv show), what would the producers choose as your scariest challenge? (7-10 min)
3. Read Mark 10:42-45.
4. Discuss these questions with your group. (20-45 min)

Looking back at your notes from this week’s message, was there anything you heard for the first time, stuck with you, challenged or confused you?

Jesus called them to him and said to them,“You know that those who are considered rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them.” (Mark 10:42)

Pastor Matt said, “The very essence and the real heart of leadership is taking initiative we otherwise wouldn’t take and making sacrifices we otherwise wouldn’t make.”

What’s a difficult conversation you need to have with someone, but have put off initiating?

What do you risk losing if the conversation doesn’t go well?

But it shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. (Mark 10:43-45)

Pastor Matt said, “A man who refuses to move until the fear is gone will never move. Consequently he will never lead.”

What’s the biggest fear-related obstacle you’re facing right now? What would it take for you to push through it? Who could help you do this?

LIVING IN 4D
Here’s how to start a difficult conversation; say something like, “When [this thing happened] it made an impact on me.
Can you tell me your perspective on what happened?”

Use this tool to start a challenging discussion you’ve been hesitant to initiate.

What is the one important thing you will take away from this weekend’s message or our community group discussion? Is there any challenge, difficulty or praise that you would like to share with the group for prayer?
