
Pastor Matt reminded us that our Heavenly Father is a redeeming God, adopting us as his children, even when we were enemies and on top of all of that, He has given us a new name.

What's the most stupid Dad joke you ever heard or offered up?
WHAT DOES GOD WANT US TO HEAR?
Pray then like this: "Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. (Matthew 6:9)
He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before Him. In love He predestined us for adoption to Himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of His will, to the praise of His glorious grace, with which He has blessed us in the Beloved. (Ephesians 4:1-6)
What should our heart-posture be when we address our Heavenly Father in prayer? What does it mean for God's name to be hallowed?
For what purpose did God choose those who would follow Jesus with their whole hearts, minds, and souls?
What does God want us to hear? What are some of the more factual "takeaways" from this passage for you?

How has your biological father (or stepdad) shaped your view of God?
With respect to our fathers, in what ways was your Dad not like Jesus, traits may have shaped an inaccurate picture of God in you ... which might need to be unlearned?
How would your life be different if God handed out salvation by means of a lottery? What difference does it make to you, as a believer, that you have been chosen by God?
What is the difference between being adopted versus being "born into" God's family?
What does God want us to do? Flowing out of our reading and interpretation, what action does this passage or the Spirit's leading, call us to?

The next time you pray, spend some time in awe and reverence of God before speaking any words ... either out loud or in your mind.
If God were to give you a new name, what would you want that new name to be? What would you want that name to reflect? According to the Scriptures, what is the purpose of God's will for your life?
What are some practical things you can do this week to get your own will into closer alignment with the will of your Heavenly Father?
What does God want ME to do? What is the personal application and action step God is calling you, personally, toward?
