GROUP DISCUSSION
1. Open with prayer. (2-5 min)
2. Share your story:
If you’ve been baptized, tell us the story of how you came to make that decision. If you have not been baptized, tell us your thoughts about this weird thing that Christians do. (7-10 min)
3. Read Matthew 28:19, Mark 1:1-15
4. Discuss these questions with your group. (20-45 min)

Looking back at your notes from this week’s message, was there anything you heard for the first time, stuck with you, challenged or confused you?

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 29:19)

What do some people hope baptism will do for them that was never promised by Jesus?

Who should be baptized? When does a person know he or she is ready to take this step?

I have baptized you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit. (Mark 1:8)

How does water baptism symbolize being baptized by the Holy Spirit?

What is the baptism of the Holy Spirit? When does it happen in the life of the believer?

LIVING IN 4D
Think about inviting a non-Christian neighbor to next week’s baptism (August 29, 2021 at 8:30am) and talking about it afterward.

What is the one important thing you will take away from this weekend’s message or our community group discussion? Is there any challenge, difficulty or praise that you would like to share with the group for prayer?
