Pastor Jon reminded us that we can all play a part in welcoming our kids into the Kingdom of God.

MY STORY
What was your most memorable spiritual experience as a child? What adult played a significant role in that event?

WHAT DOES GOD WANT US TO HEAR?                                                                                                                                           “[Parents] were bringing children to [Jesus] that he might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them. But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them.” Mark 10:13-16

What can be tempting about wanting to impatiently shoo children away, or insist that they settle down, or to be quiet and pay attention?

Why did Jesus react so strongly to hindering the children’s access to him?

What is it about the innocence, or naivety, of children that makes them especially receptive to the things of God?

What does God want us to hear? Based on the passage and the questions above, what takeaways do you think God has revealed to you?

WHAT DOES GOD WANT US TO DO?
Contrast the perspectives of adults vs kids when it comes to receiving the blessings of God’s Kingdom.

How can thinking that’s too complex, or multi-layered, get in the way of what God wants us to simply understand?

How might helping out with Crossroads’ Kids’ Ministry open your eyes to some things about your own spiritual formation that you might be missing?

What does God want us to do? Flowing out of our reading and interpretation, what action does this passage or the Spirit's leading, call us to?

WHAT DOES GOD WANT ME TO DO?
Think about the kids in your circle of influence. What’s something practical you can do to remove any obstacles that might be hindering their access to Jesus?

What would it look like for you to become more childlike in your faith?

What does God want ME to do? What is the personal application and action step God is calling you, personally, toward?
