DOES THE CHURCH CARE? (Pt 4)

Healing and Deliverance

February 27, 2022

Print

1. Open with prayer. (2-5 min)
2. Read 2 Corinthians 1:3-11.
3. Discuss these questions with your group. (20-45 min)

MY STORY | Vulnerability
Think about a difficult trial in your past where you eventually experienced healing and deliverance.

If applicable: How were you healed physically? Emotionally? Mentally? Relationally? Spiritually? (7-10 min)

DIGGING DEEPER | Practical Biblical Application
Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death. But that was to make us rely not on ourselves but on God who raises the dead. (2 Corinthians 1:9)

Name some typically challenging circumstances you’ve faced where your first reaction has been, “I can handle this myself.”

How bad does it have to get for you to say “God, there’s nothing more I can do here; please deliver me!”

GROWING TOGETHER | Spiritual Friendship
He delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will deliver us again. (2 Corinthians 1:10)

Paul wrote this knowing he’d eventually give his life for the Gospel.

How do we reconcile this with his confidence that God would deliver him in the future?

In what sense can we always count on God for healing and deliverance— without being presumptuous as to when or how that will happen?

LIVING IN 4D | Missional Living
Get together with someone you trust and talk about where each of you is in need of healing and deliverance.

Ask each other the questions: What would healing look like for you? (physically, emotionally, mentally, relationally, spiritually)?

What is the one important thing you will take away from this weekend’s message or our community group discussion? Is there any challenge, difficulty or praise that you would like to share with the group for prayer?
